Multi-award-winning Welsh Tenor Joshua Owen Mills is an alumnus of the Bayersiche Staatsoper, Munich, and Glyndebourne Festival Opera Jerwood Young Artist Programme, and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.
Described by The Times as a ‘tenor with gleaming top notes and legato’ Joshua’s previous highlights include Don Ottavio Don Giovanni (Deutsche Oper am Rhein; Staattheater Klagenfurt); Lysander A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Staatsoper Hannover; Theater Aachen); Zimoviy Borisovich Ismailow Lady Macbeth of Mzensk (Staatstheater Wiesbaden); the tenor soloist in a staged version of Britten's War Requiem (National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, Taiwan); and subsequent roles with Aalto Musiktheater Essen; Scottish Opera; Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Glyndebourne on Tour; and Garsington Opera.
In the field of contemporary opera and new music, Joshua has performed roles such as Henry 'Birdie' Bowers in South Pole by Miroslav Srnka’s and Hohe Schattern in Hauke Jasper Berheide’s Mauerschau (Bayerische Staatsoper); Habakuk in Blech's Alpenkönig und Menschenfeind (Theater Aachen); and Yonas in Kaija Saariaho's Adriana Mater (Norrlandsoperan).
